More Merrick 'POD' advice needed

I'm sure there's been other posts on this subject, however, personally i'm 6'3" and weigh 13 stone, currently i ride a 6'2" flyer which is amazing shoulder/head high but proves a bit boggy waist high and below (in UK at least)

So, armed with that info would you say a 6' Pod or a 5'10" Pod?

I know my local shaper would probably be able to shape a Pod copy for and save me money etc.(this is what i read on any Merrick subject) but i'm a filthy Merrick slut (Tom Currens fault)

So, if anyone around my size can offer advice i'd be happy, those Pods kinda look like chubby little boats, it's for the small stuff, all views are welcome.

If you're bogging down in the smaller stuff, then surely you need to go up in size not down?

6'0 would be my pic. People tend to buy them WAY too small. The manufacturer says 6" shorter than your shortboard. That is what you want if you want a shortboard feel, but if you want to pic of more waves and have a higher wave count take a few inches off at most. It will paddle and catch waves much easier than your flyer and be just as loose, the 5'10 will also be good but not give you as many waves is small mush. Unless you are almost pro ability, then go down to 5'6"

Flyer is an outstanding small to medium wave board, and at at 6' 3"182 pounds its a good fit (assuming stock dims around 19+ and 2 1/2). Don't know your ability but, so only guessing your not generating your own speed on the mush/flat sections, or you could use some new fins with more drive. The Pod is for more intermediate/advanced surfers and is not a great groveler, but if you want a Pod get a pod, but you'll might find the same problem. Or get a similar Quad Flyer in XTR.

Fishcuit is a good small wave board from CI, look into that, even better, outside of CI is something like a Roberts White Diamond, Lost Plank, etc...

The Pod's wide curvy outline makes it a good board for all levels of surfers. But a good surfer can make this board ride insane! I would get the 5'10" if you want more performance and a more sensitive feel. The board planes on top of the water really well due to the full outline. If you are just looking to catch more waves and are not as concerned with performance than go 6'0" or bigger. I hope that helps!

Thanks for all the input. it does sound a little backwards to downsize when the problem is getting the most out of gutless surf, however, given the dims of the Pod it's far from downsizing. My flyer isn't standard dims, it's 18 3/4, 2 1/4 and yes, it's an outstanding board. i want to make the best out of the days when i normally wouldn't paddle out, i've looked into getting a fishcuit type board, even a longboard, however, i still want a shortboard feel because it's all i know, the pod looks like a skateboard and i'm down for that. 5'10 or 6'0? i guess that's up to me? might even flip a coin! at least i know i'm going to float both, all comments have been noted, thanks again.
