tailpad on a fish?

was thinking of getting a pad on my twin fin fish (mostly orange with slight bit of black) but don't know if it will look good. its 6ft x 20 3/4 x 2.75 was thinking of getting a red and white pad, anyone with any thoughts on this?

ive always thought a tail pad on a fish looks stupid. But that shouldnt concern anyone, as far as extra grip/preformance i found a tail pad doesnt really help at all on a fish shape

I agree, Your feet will move around alot of a fish so no need for one. I only find traction pads useful on boards where I plan on whipping the nose around alot and you dont really ride a fish like that.

I don't use them on my retro's, I tend to ride the board more in the middle and surf it rail to rail than digging in the tail like I do with my shortboards

yeah i spose, i surf it exactly like that as well. just down the line speed not top to bottom constantly, also when tryin to turn sharpy i always seem to fall i know these boards are not meant to be surfed like this but id like to do a decent turn every once in a while rather than speeding down the line. would it help if i put my foot futher back on the board? i do put it back slightly but dont know how far due to not looking down and not having a tailpad. any help would be great on techniques/foot placement on a fish when turning, cheers

Then go ahead and get the tail pad if you think it will help, for sure it won't hurt. If it turns out it did not help you just make sure you take it off as soon as possible so that you don't get discoloration around that area. I had a tail pad on my modern fish, it did help, but it was not as boxy as my retro. Go for it, fun to experiment.

thanks themathteacher, iv decided to put one on and see what its like. iv got a pad on a board that i rarely use so was thinking of taking it off and putting it on my fish (save £30). what can i use to stick it to my fish? whilst being able to get it off if i dont get on with it. thanks

Ive never heard of anyone reusing a traction pad. Doesnt seem worth the trouble just to save 30 bucks. I imagine you will have alot of trouble trying to get that off cleanly and resticking it to another board without it coming off. Also I saw the other day they make traction pads just for fish.
