Postby syeite » Mon May 25, 2009 12:29 am

hey! basically now im getting towards more of an intermediate level im thinking of downsizing from my 7'4 nsp shortboard to maybe getting an adams 6'8 wideboy? anyway i just wanted to post it up on here to see if you guys thought it was a good idea or not? or if u have any other suggestions?
im around 6 ft and weight 12 stone
also i started on a shortboard straight from lessons if that helps.... i never started on a mini mal or anything

The NSP 7'4 shortboard pretty much is a mini-mal.....
It just happens to have a pointy nose.

But, anyway, I digress...
Something like a 6'8 fatboy board would be a good next step.
Also depends on where you're surfing - fast or fat waves?

Yup, I know Polzeath. Had many a b@st@rd difficult paddle out at the east end

But, anyway, I digress again...
The 6'8 will be fine for Polzeath.
It might be a little chunky for solid winter swells, but you can cross that bridge when it comes to it 8)

One last thing though - go and talk to a shaper.

You've got a rough idea of what you want now, so go and talk to your friendly local shaper (Newquay certainly has plenty to choose from). Tell him what you're thinking, where you surf, how you surf (be ruthlessly honest about your abilities), and he'll hopefully give you the perfect board unique to you.

Much better than picking one up off the rack 8)
