Hey, I'm really interested in this board, but I don't know to much about boards.

I'm 5'4 and weigh about 130lb. Would this be a great board for me?

Whatta think peeps?

Mmmm, I reckon if you can surf then it might be a good board to consider. Mind you, for $400.00 you might be able to get a board shaped just for you !

How easy would the one you like be to repair ?
If you can’t fix it, it won't last very long.

Would you prefer a board with your colours / graphics / name etc built just for you ?

I guess you’re gonna have to make the final call on this one.

Anyone else got any thoughts ?

There's a lot of good shapers in cali. where are you located exactly? Try picking one close so you can meet him in person. That will help him give a feel for what kind of board he should make. Also, once you order your board go ahead and stop by the shaping factory once in awhile to talk story and hangout. Shapers enjoy the relationship with the people thats riding their boards.

In Orange County, the best deal I know is CHAS surfboards, by Chas Wickwire. This is the last number I had for him 714-898-2799.

He preety much specializes on shortboards, have a bud that drives up for his indo sticks. I bought a semigun from him and rode it to the ground, loved it. Awesome shapes, reasonable prices.

If you want to drive down to San Diego, my shaper Micah at Addict Surfboards does shorties under 7ft for around $400, just thought you wanted something closer to you. Here is his website:

Thanks guys, so is its recommended to get a board specifically shaped for you? I M\mean I plan on going out almost everyday and I want to be really good at surfing. Or is it better to just get a brand name board, like a flyer 2, I found one that is 250$ and is about 5'6, I'm about 5'4, would this be an okay board? Or should I just save up some $$$ and go for a custom shaped for me?

Thanks

Well, you posted a board that was $400, we were simply giving you $400 options.

If you are not sure about the size then go used and cheaper. If you don't like it you won't be out that much money. If you do like it then you can start talking to a local shaper on getting the same size but custom tailored to your needs (thinner, thicker, wider, skinnier...) depending on your experience.

You don't have to go name brand, they are just more expensive and also will sell for more when you go to sell it.

Here are some brands I know are good that might be worth it to you, but bottom line now you are talking preferences, so go with what you thing you will like, even if not one of my choices:
