Postby Goofy Boy » Sat Mar 14, 2009 12:19 am

I weigh 57kg(125lbs) and am 176cm tall(5'9 i think) What size shortboard would be the best for me? This is going to be my first shortboard.

I think it is beneficial to have your first shortboard that is a little bit forgiving makes the transition a touch easier.

so maybe something like a 6'4 long 2 3/8 thick and 19 wide would be okay eventually you would probably end up on something like 6'0 x 2 1/4? x 18 1/4? or something like that  what board are you currently riding as my first thoughts may be waaaay off the mark.

I have to get something 6'3 or under because im not able to put it on the plane. Im going on a holiday to get another board but the airline only allows things 6'3 and under. Would a 6'1 or 6'2 be alright. I want a board that is easier to paddle so i would need a thicker one i think.

Ive been riding a 6'8 but know im more confident and need a shorterboard. I have also got a 5'6 which is a bit too small for me.

okay you should get a 5'11'', 19 wide, and 2 3/8 thick shortboard. it will have enough float, and is a good size since you only 125 pounds. it will not be too small, trust me. you can even go smaller if you want, but since its your first real shorty, that is a good size

Hello guys!! :D I got to add my advice for Goofy Boy. I am 6'1" high, and weighing 155 lbs. As I learned the basic techniques with the longboard, I went to my first short that was 6'6 "x 19" 1 \ 2 x 2 "1 \ 2. To me this for you would be fine, even if you have to learn the basics.
