New size?

Postby Gib » Sun Feb 15, 2009 10:48 pm

Been surfing for awhile now my board is 6'5. I'm usually surfing smaller waves knee to head cause of location. I have been thinking about getting a board with a litter more meat on it. I have been looking on used sites for one. Recently a 5'8"x20"x2 1/2 came along for a good price. What do you guys think? Is it too small?

btw im 5'8 160

You looking for a beefier board but giving up more than half a foot, you'll end up with a shorter board that surfs the same. Either go thicker or slightly longer if you want an easy to paddle board. Either the 5'8" x 20" x 2 3/4" or a 6'1 x 20" x 2 1/2"

Alright thanks so are you saying that the 5'8 x 20" x 2 1/2
is too small? or are you saying that it would just feel the same?

i would say go with a fish shape, around 5'10'' , 20'', 2.5''.

since you say your riding smaller waves because of your location i think this would be a great shape and size for you. it would paddle well, and really get you through flat sections.

I'm saying it's not too small but it will feel like your 6'5" shortboard as to how it paddles, if you want more glide for smaller waves go slightly thicker or longer. There should be some available used
