Bali surf

Postby snus » Mon Jun 09, 2008 7:56 pm

I'm a semi-noob.

I'm considering studying at Bali for the fall and wondered what board to get.
Hear the surf there is often in the 2-6 feet range during fall. I don't want to get a longboard, because it's wack, and I've already managing riding shortboards "decent" so I'm thinking about a fish? To play around with!
I'm 185cm 80kg what should I look for? Nothing to wack nothing to steezy....

6 foot over a reef is a lot different to 6 foot over a beachie

since when are longboards wack? maybe you should re-phrase your post

yeah didn't mean to say longboards are wack, but I want to try something different, something that is more skate-like to ride. And I'm not talking about reef spots, talking about a board some beach action with smaller waves.

You should be thinking about using a thumb tail or pintail more then using a fish on waves like those.

I went to bali and learned what it means to paddle for your life. The waves are much more powerful on a 6ft day and the reef is waiting to taste the flesh on your back. I highly recommend surfing booties unless you want to end up walking in 2ft of water out of nowhere :D.
